democracy | a form of government in which people choose leaders by voting |
Golden Age | a period of period of peace, prosperity, and cultural achievements |
gynaeceum | rooms in a Greek house set aside for women |
krater | a large vase used to mix wine and water in Ancient Greece |
monarchy | a form of government with a king or queen at the head who inherits the position due to his/her family |
periodization | dividing a subject into historical eras for purposes of analysis and study |
oligarchy | a small group of people having control of a country |
source | explain and evaluate the origin of a document, text or website |
republic | a country that is governed by elected representatives and by an elected leader (such as a president) rather than by an inherited king or queen |
tyrant | a cruel and oppressive ruler |
symposium | gathering where men drank together, conversed, and enjoyed themselves usually following a dinner |
