taiga. the largest forest area that stretches through northern Russia,Canada,and other northern countries.
peat. the material from very old decayed plants that burns like coal.
steppe. a very large plain of dry grassland.
methane. a colorless. odorless natural gas released from.
tundra. flat tree less land found in arctic and subarctic regions.
nonrenewable. a source of energy such as oil, natural gas, or coal.
semiarid. some what dry,with very little rain fall.
socialism. a system of government in which the government controls economic resources.
tribute. fees paid to another ruler or country for protection or as a token of submission.
invader. an enemy who enters a country by force.
propaganda. information made to influence people's opinions or advance an organization or party 's ideas.
state. a defined territory with its own government .
czar. term used for an emperor in Russia.
communism. a system of government in which a single political party controls the government and the economy.
scorched. in 1812, practice in which Russian troops, as they retreated from napoleon's army, burned crops and resources that could supply the enemy.
