What kind of government does Canada have? parliamentary democracy/constitutional monarchy
How is the political leader chosen in Canada? the party with the majority of members in legislature (because it is a parliamentary democracy).
At what age can citizens vote? 18 years old
Who do citizens vote for? Citizens vote for MPs members of parliament
What is Canada's legislature called? Parliament
What does the legislative branch (parliament) do? make laws
How is the Prime Minister chosen? the parliament chooses the PM with the most votes
How long does Prime Minister serve as chief executive? There is no set term. The PM serves as long as the people have confidence.
What does the Prime Minister do? CHIEF EXECUTIVE- heads the military, enforces laws, and keeps the country running day to day. Leads parliament and helps write laws.
Who is the head of state in Canada? The monarch - King is head of state.
Who represents the monarch in Canada? the Governor General represents the monarch.
