Agent Orange A defoliant/herbicide used to kill foliage in jungle to eliminate the protection and coverage of the jungle used by the communist troops.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) President of the USA from 1961 to 1963. Assassinated in 1963 before his term was completed. Sent first US ground troops to help in south Vietnam.
Hawk A bird used to symbolize a person who was in favor of the war.
Dove A bird used to symbolize a person who was against the war.
27 January 1973 Cease-fire agreement took effect on this date.
Kent State University A riot at this college ended in the death of four students in May 1970.
P.O.W. An abbreviation which signifies a soldier who was held by the communists during the war: Prisoner of War.
M.I.A. An abbreviation which signifies a soldier whose whereabouts is unknown: Missing in Action.
