What political parties formed during this time period? Federalists and Anti-federalists
Federalists Supported/wanted a central government; they were for the Constitution.
Who were supporters of the Federalist Party? James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay
Anti-federalist They were against a central government and did not want a constitution. The only way they agreed to a constitution is if a Bill of Rights was included.
Who were supporters of the Anti-federalist party? Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Patrick Henry
What event involved delegates from each state to meet up all together to discuss about the Constitution? The Constitutional Convention
Virginia Plan Wanted 3 branches of government, 2 houses in the legislative branch, and have state representatives be based on state population.
What states supported the Virginia Plan? Larger states such as Virginia and Pennsylvania were in support of the Virginia Plan.
New Jersey Plan Wanted only 1 house in the legislative branch and wanted the number of representative to be equal for each state.
What states supported the New Jersey Plan? Smaller states like New Jersey and Connecticut favored the New Jersey Plan.
Who wrote most of the Constitution and is known as the father of the Constitution? James Madison
