Constitution The document that sets out the basic laws, principles, organization, and processes of a government
Bill of Rights A list of freedoms that the government promises to protect
Articles of Confederation A loose alliance of 13 independent states
Constitutional Convention Opened on May 25, 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its purpose was to revise the Articles of Confederation.
Republic A government in which citizens rule themselves through elected representatives.
Federalist Papers A series of essays, whose purpose was to explain and defend the Constitution.
