~The earliest was called the NEANDERTHAL (100,000-250,000)~CRO-MAGNON came during the Paleolithic era (60,000-100,000) -used advanced tools, wore clothing, and created dwellings ~HOMO SAPIENS (100,000-200,000)= modern humans

~AKA the Old Stone Age ~began to create stone and bone tools ~humans were nomadic hunters and gatherers -men were hunters because of strength and stamina ~Families formed into tribes, organizing themselves with cheifdoms

~Religions began to form around nature and the unexplainable events~Cave paintings and art began to appear

~Agriculture began around 10,000-8,000 BCE -Domestication of animals began -slash-and-burn began~complex societies began to form as people settled permanantly

~increased food surplus led to growth in population~The first neolithic village was Jericho~Specialized labor began -Pottery, mettalurgy, & textiles -this brought accumulated wealth and social classes emerged
