| Lewis and Clark | Explored the Louisiana Territory to find a Northwest Passage, make peaceful contact with natives and document the plant and animal life of the area |
| Louisiana Purchase | The land bought from France in 1803 that went from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains |
