When did the Panama Canal open? The Panama Canal began in 1904 and opened in 1914.
What is the Roosevelt Corollary? A speech by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1904 that articulated a double standard; the speech was based off the original Monroe Doctrine in the 19th century
What is the "Big Stick Diplomacy" based on? Foreign policy based on an African proverb, "speak softly, and carry a big stick, and you will go far."
What is the "Great White Fleet"? U.S. navy ships maneuvering in the western Pacific Ocean.
Who were The Rough Riders? A group of all-volunteer cavalry unit made up of adventure seeking college graduates, veterans and cowboys from the Southwest that Theodore Roosevelt led.
What negotiations help end the Russo Japanese War? Roosevelt used the Great White Fleet to negotiate the Open Door Policy throughout China and the rest of Asia.
What negotiations ended the Coal Strike of 1902? the miners agreed to end their walkout based on the commission's recommendations
What deal made the Panama Canal possible? $10 million payment to Panama, and an annual annuity of $250,000
