Energy Crisis Situation in the 1970s marked by high fuel prices and fuel shortages.

executive privilege Right of the president to keep information secret to protect national security.
iran Hostage Crisis Situation that began in 1979 in which 53 Americans were taken hostage in the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, Iran, and were held for 444 days.
Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Alliance formed by major oil-producing nations in 1960 to control the production and sale of oil.
Panama Canal Treaties (1977) Agreement made between U.S. and Panamanian leaders to transfer control of the Panama Canal to Panama by the year 2000.
realpolitik German word meaning "practical politics"; policy developed by Henry Kissinger and implemented by President Richard Nixon that put American interests, rather than political or moral ideals, first in foreign-policy decisions
sanctions Economic penalties.
Stagflation Economic situation characterized by both high inflation and high unemployment.
Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT) (1972) Talks between U.S. president Richard Nixon and Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev that led to a treaty limiting the numbers and types of long-range nuclear missiles each country could have.
trade deficit An imbalance in which a nation imports more than it exports
Watergate Scandal in which President Richard Nixon authorized a cover-up of a break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters; led to Nixon's resignation in 1974.
1980s Presidental Election Carter lost lots of popularity. So Regan, a Republican, wont he election with a landslide. Also Republicans got control over senate in 28 years.
Carter's presidental style Carter didn't use realpolitik but inste3ad thought that they should help countries that are actually treating the ddhumans in the country well.

Immigration trends in the 1970s Immigration came mainly from Latin America and Asia. Also many immigrants looked for educational jobs.
Impact of Nucular Power Many people didn't like nnucular power because it was dangerous procedure that can kill people.
Impeachment procedure Ground: Officals estaplsih grounds for impeachment, like treason. 1: House of Rep. annonce articles of impeachment and thus starts impeachment. 2 Senate holds trial and 2/3 needed for conviction. 3: Convicted offical is removed and cant return.
