The State Government and Its Citizens

Judicial Branch The branch of the government that interprets the laws.
amendment A change in, or addition to, a constitution or law
citizens The native or naturalized people of a state or nation who owes allegiance to its government and is entitled to its protection.
Executive Branch the branch of government that carries out laws
constitution A written plan for governing a country or a state
Legislative Branch The branch of the government that makes laws
federal A form of government in which power is distributed between a central authority and a number of constituent territorial units
governor An official elected or appointed to act as the leader, chief executive, or head of a state.
liberties The quality or state of being free
government A country's laws and leaders
