Ahimsa Practicing nonviolence towards non living things
Caste A strict hereditary or "pass" on at birth of social classes in which a person remains for life.
Dharma A personal duty, based on one's place in society, which must be fulfilled to maintain truth and order.
Karma The idea that a person's action will decide how they will be born into their next lives.
Meditation The practice of clearing and training the mind through deep thought
Metallurgy The art and science of extracting metals from their ores and modifying them for practical use
Missionary A member of a religious group sent on a mission to spread the message of that religion
Monsoon Seasonal, reversing winds that have a large influence on Indias climate (natural disaster)
Nirvana A state of perfect peace: release from worldly suffering (similar to "moksha" in Hinduism).
Plateau A broad flat area of high land
Reincarnation The rebirth of the soul in a new physical form
Sanskrit An ancient language of India. The sacred language of India
Subcontinent a large landmass that is smaller than a full continent
Varna the four major social classes in India's caste system
Vedeas the four oldest and most sacred snskrit writing of hinduism.
