| political party | an organization that represents the specific political agenda and economic position of a nation |
| president | title often given to the head of government (and State) in a presidential democracy |
| prime minister | title often given to head of government in a parliamentary democracy |
| parliament | the legislature in a parliamentary democracy |
| legislative branch | make the laws ( parliament, congress in the USA ) |
| Judicial branch | interprets the laws ( the judges, court systems) did you break the law the way the law is written? |
| Executive branch | enforces the laws ( President, the police enforce laws) |
