| Indulgences | Something given to catholic to reduce punishment for sins ; believers must do something to earn the indulgence- pray, visit a holy place, do good work. |
| Specialize | To focus attention or energy on one job, task or topic of interest. |
| Mercantilism | The idea that the way for a nation to have a strong economy was to protect their home industries increase exports to foreign countries and to own as much gold and silver as possible. |
| Humanism | A philosophy that places importance on reason (thinking) and the value of people and religious beliefs. |
| Credible | Believable; possible to be true; trustworthy |
| Corrupt | Not honest ; wicked ; not moral; bad |
| Oppress/Oppression | To control or rule in a harsh or cruel way that is not fair. |
| Imperialism | The actions and polices that allow a nation to control smaller, weak nations. |
| Colony/Colonize | A distant territory that belongs to or is under the control of a nation |
| Industrial/Industrialization | Having to do with the making of goods or services; related to industry (factories/businesses). |
