Why was South Carolina upset by the Tariff of 1828? What did they try to do to avoid this tax? | They were upset because this tariff forced the south to pay high taxes. South Carolina tried to nullify this tariff. |
What was the purpose of the Indian Removal Act? | The purpose was to allow Andrew Jackson to give land to Native Americans in the Louisiana Purchase for their land in the East. |
How did the Cherokee attempt to prevent their removal? | They believed that they had adopted more white culture than any other tribe and tried to take their case to the supreme court. |
What was the ultimate result of the Indian Removal Act? | Five tribes were forcibly removed from their land to Indian Territory which lead to many of their deaths during the Trail of Tears. |
