| latitude | The east west parallel lines in a grid. measure distance north and south of the equator. |
| longitude | The north south meridian lines in a grid. Measure east and west of the prime meridian. |
| equator | An imaginary line encircling the earth equally divides the north and south poles. |
| prime meridian | Imaginary line that passes through the north and south pole. It shows 0 degrees longitude. |
| continents | 7 great land masses of the world. Africa, Asia, Antarctica, Australia, Europe, North america, and south america. |
| Geography | The study of the earths physical and cultural features. |
| landform | The natural features of the earths surface. |
| climate | The average weather conditions in a certain area over a period of time |
| environment | all the living and nonliving things that affect life in an area. |
| region | an area with one or more features that make it different from surrounding areas. |
