magna carta royal charter agreed by the king
articles of confederation the written document that established the functions of the national government of the United States after it declared independence from Great Britain.
shays rebellion uprising in western Massachusetts in opposition to high taxes and stringent economic conditions.
limited government government that is limited on power
due process government actors must follow certain procedures before they may deprive a person of a protected life, liberty, or property interest.
bicameral having two branches or chambers.
unicameral having a single legislature or chamber
ratification the action of signing or giving formal consent to a treaty, contract, or agreement, making it officially valid.
federalist wanted a constitution and not a bill of rights
antifederalist didn't want a constitution but wanted a bill of rights
federalist papers The Federalist Papers were a series of eighty-five essays urging the citizens of New York to ratify the new United States Constitution.
Virginia plan outlined a strong national government with three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial.
