| Self reliance | Be able to take care for and do things for oneself |
| Honesty | To tell the truth |
| Respect for the law | Follow the laws / rules set by the government or those in charge |
| Courtesy | Showing respect and being polite to others |
| Patriotism | Showing pride and respect for one's country |
| Responsibility | Taking care of what you're supposed to do without reminders |
| Respect for others | Around others to make their views known |
| Citizen | A legal member of a country with rights and duties |
| Naturalization | Legal process to become a citizen |
| Legal alien | A person from another country who is living in the US with permission from the government |
| Immigrate | Move from one country to another |
| 14th Amendment | Defines who is a citizen of the United States |
| Birth and naturalization | Two ways to become a citizen |
| Citizen by birth | Born in the US or at least one of your parents is born in the United States |
| Diverse | Having a range of different cultures beliefs or ethnicities |
