TermDefinition
Government People of power that make decisions based on the safety/good of their people.
Politics Who gets what, when, and how.
Linkage Institutions Policy shaping groups that are organized to interact with government
Public Policy Laws, guidelines, and actions chosen by the government for the good of the people.
Democracy Direct democracy
Republic Representative democracy
Representation A larger group gives its power to a smaller group for a period of time.
Natural Rights Rights that cannot be given up, replaced, or taken away. Right you simply have.
Social Contract An agreement between the government and its people that outlines the rights and duties of each party/group
Limited Government Actions taken to ensure the government doesn't hold too much power. Boundries.
Popular Sovereignty Government based on the beliefs, ideas, and consent of the people
Republicanism A governmental system which the people select representatives to represent them and their ideas.
Participatory Democracy Maintains a civil society (a community that has common interests and works together.)
Pluralist Democracy Encourages competition for policy influence. People persuading others with the goal to change the policy. (a group of people of common interests)
Elite Democracy Involves primary decisions made by a select group/couple of people.
