| Constitution | The written laws for how a government functions. | |
| Bill of Rights | The activities that the U.S. government protects for its citizens. | |
| Amendment | Add-ons to the constitution. | |
| National | 1 government in Washington D.C. | |
| State | 50 governments (ex. Boston) | |
