McCulloch v. Maryland Tried to tax a federal bank, court ruled it was unconstitutional (supremacy clause)
United States v. Lopez Congress made a law banning guns on school property, court ruled it was unconstitutional (commerce clause)
Engel v. Vitale Court ruled school prayer unconstitutional (establishment clause)
Wisconsin v. Yoder Court ruled requiring school past middle school unconstitutional (freedom of religion)
Tinker v. Des Moines School prevented students from wearing armbands to school as protest, court ruled unconstitutional (freedom of religion)
New York Times v. US Newspaper published leaked papers, US tried to prevent them, court ruled newspaper could publish (freedom of press)
Schenck v. US Someone tried to publish pamphlets telling people to dodge the draft, US said they couldn't, court agreed with US (freedom of speech)
Gideon v. Wainwright Someone had to defend themselves in court because Florida wouldn't give them a lawyer, later sued and court agreed with dude. (right to counsel)
McDonald v. Chicago Someone sued their state because of strict gun laws, and the court agreed with the dude. (right to bear arms)
Brown v. Board of Education Overruled plessy v Ferguson, ruled seperate but equal doctrine unconstitutional (equal protection clause)
Citizens United v. FEC Company made ad for Hillary too close to the election, argued the 30/60 day rule was unconstitutional and court agreed. also no more limits on how much people can spend on candidates (freedom of speech)
Baker v. Carr Tennessee hadn't redistricted in a while, and someone from an urban area sued. Court agreed with the person, establishing that gerrymandering is subject to judicial review (equal protection clause)
Shaw v. reno North carolina changed district to include more minority districts. Someone sued and the court agreed, showing that racial gerrymandering was unconstitutional (equal protection clause)
Marbury v. madison Jefferson refused to deliver appointment of Adam's last minute appointments. Case went to court because of a law that changed the court's jurisdiction. court said the law was unconstitutional. Established judicial review (juristiction clause of Article 3)
