How did the Nile River influence the growth of trade in Egypt? The Nile River allowed Egyptians to have more crops than they needed for themselves, a surplus. They were able to trade this surplus for goods they wanted and needed. Trade became a significant part of the Egyptians economy.

Amun Ra/Re Amun Ra is a god who was the creator of the rest of the gods.
Anubis Anubis is the god that weighs your heart against a feather and decides if your heart is pure or not.
Early Dynastic Period Early Dynastic Period Earky periods of time when writing was developed and lower and upper Egypt were combines into one.
Menes/Narmer’s legacy King Narmer/Menes united Upper and Lower Egypt around 3150 BCE. Built his Capital city where Upper and Lower Egypt met, in Memphis.
Old Kingdom Age of Pyramids” - about 2700 BCE to 2200 BCE. Period ended as the Egyptian government lost power and a period of chaos and famine spread.
Khufu's legacy Pharaoh Khufu constructs the Great Pyramid near Giza. It is the last of the 7 ancient wonders of the world still standing.
Middle Kingdom “Period of Reunification” 2. Capital was reestablished in Thebes as Egyptian Empire had spread south. Period ended because Hyksos conquered Egypt with new technology (horse drawn chariots, iron swords and armor).
Senusret I’s legacy Under Pharaoh Senusret I art, literature, architecture and education flourished.
Hieroglyphics Hieroglyphics- Ancient Egyptian system of writing that used pictures to represent letters, sounds, and complete words. It was decoded using the Rosseta stone. This was one of the first written languages.
Rosetta Stone Rosetta Stone- Ancient Egyptian tablet found in the Rosette, Egypt and translated by Jean-Francois Champollion. It had the same message written in three languages. This allows modern people to translate hieroglyphics.
Mummification Process Remove the brain through the nose Take out the organs except the heart Place intestines, lungs, stomach, and liver in canopic jars Stuff the body with natron (drying powder) and spices and leave it wrapped in linen for 40 days.
basic beliefs/mummification process Process- The purpose was to preserve the (KA) body so the (BA) spirit recognizes the body in the afterlife.
Swagstr(first s) The old kingdom pharohs used to collect food taxes to then distribute equal proportions to the whole kingdom. The pharoh used the governemnt officials to collect taxes and give them to him. Officials were examplles of specialazation.
Swagstr (w) They used Hyrogliphs as ceremonial writing system for big buildings like there pyramids or there tombs. They also had “demonic” writing system that was an everyday script.
Swagstr (a) Egyptians built gigantic monuments for their pharohs. Some of these items were the pyramids of Giza and Hatcheputs mortuary temple. Egyptians also used hieroglyphics which were set of pictographs for very formal writing and documents.
Swagstr (g) In Egypt there used to be two rules one of south and one of north Egypt. Then one leader from the south united it and started the first dynaty becoming teh first pharoh. The pharoh is usually has a cabinet of helpers or people below him to collect taxes
swagstr (second s) Pharohs are at the top of the social strucure becauce they were very important to the Egyptians. The second t o highest is goverment officials and soldiers and nobals. Then there is working class. On the bottom of the social structer is slaves.
swagstr (t) Zthey invented sailboats and barges which they used to pull very heavy things and travel downstream. Those who were merchnats, sailors, animal herders, and architects benefited from this because it allowed them to do their jobs more easily.
Swagstr (r) Akhenaten tried to make Egypt monotheistic and only worshi Aten Then when king Tut came into power he reversed Egypt to be polytheistic again.
Osiris, Horus, Isis, and Seth story Osiris and Isis are married and there brother is seth. Osiris and Isis have a child named Horus. Horus and Seth have a war and Horus loses his eyes. Anubis heals him and give him one eye as the sun adn one eye as the moon.
