In Africa why were giant parts of the continents unstable for human life? A lot of the continent was deserts and not habitable for humans.
Why were coastal areas in Africa so densely populated? The land by the coast was densely populated because the land was very fertile and farmers would farm there.
Where did the first humans appear and how did they adapt to the new environment? The first humans appeared in the Great Rift Valley which was a gash in the Earth's crust. They adapted by creating new technologies and social systems.
Why were hunter - gatherer societies' houses rarely permanent? Their houses were rarely permanent because they went where the food was and had to continue to move.
How did agriculture and pastoral societies change the way the African people lived? Agriculture and pastoral societies changed the way the African people lived because they were able to grow food and domesticate animals. This meant they could change to a settled lifestyle.
Why did the Settlements of african people become bigger? Having a reliable food source enabled the Africans to live healthier and longer lives. It would also increase the birthrate.
What is one major difference between patrilineal and matrilineal societies? The patrilineal society traced family descend through the father and the matrilineal society traced family descend through the mother.
What is one important thing societes used the age set system for? Societies like the igbo used it to teach discipline, community service, and leadership skills to their young.
What did the elements of animism did they believe in? They believed that spirits were present in animals, plants, and other natural forces.
Why does it seem weird that people south of the Sahara were in the iron age This is weird because it seems like they totally skipped the copper and bronze ages
