What impact did the waterfalls and rapids have on the people of Ancient Africa? The waterfalls and rapids made navigation impossible to or from the coast.
Was the Sahara and Kalahari suitable for human life? The Sahara and Kalahari were unsuitable for human life and encouraged people to move to more welcoming climates.
What did tsetse fly prevent people from doing? It prevented Africans from using cattle, donkeys, and horses near the rainforests.
Why was the fertile land of the savannas challenging to use? In the savannas, there is an alteration between dry and rainy seasons every year but too much rain will strip the minerals of Africa’s thin topsoil.
What technological advancement did the Nok people create? The Nok were the first ones to smelt iron to create tools for farming and weapons for hunting.
What is Animism? Animism is the belief that spirits are in animals, plants and natural objects.
Who was the Efe group? The Efe is one of the hunting-gathering societies in Africa. They live in the Ituri Forest in the Democratic Republic of Congo and live in small groups of between 10 and 100 people who are all related.
Who are griots? Griots are West African storytellers that have kept the history alive and passed it from parent to child.
How did the Djenné-Djeno people survive? They fished in Niger River, herded cattle and grew rice on the fertile soil near the river.
What is the difference between Patrilineal and Matrilineal? Patrilineal is a social system when the family descent and inheritance rights are traced from the father while Matrilineal is a social system when the family descent and inheritance rights are traced from the mother.
