war reparation | compensation payments made after a war by one side to the other |
household appliances | devices designed to perform a specific task, such as cooking or cleaning, in the house |
production line | a line of machines and workers in a factory that a product moves along while it is being produced |
the Roaring Twenties | a period of rapid economic growth and social change, when many people lived in a wild and lively way |
pact | a formal agreement between individuals, groups or countries |
treaty | a formal agreement between two or more states in reference to peace, alliance, trade or other international relations |
suffrage | the right to vote in political elections |
stock market | it consists of exchanges in which stock shares of public companies are bought and sold |
excess supply | a situation in which the quantity of a good that is being offered for sale exceeds the quantity that is being demanded by consumers |
subsidies | a sum of money granted by the state to help an industry or business keep the prices low |
coups d'état | the sudden, violent overthrow of an existing government by a small group |
totalitarianism | a system of government that is centralized and led by a dictator, allowing no individual freedom |
autarchy | an economically self-sufficient state |
revolt | take violent action to end the authority of a person or government |
primacy | the fact of being the most important person or thing |
Aryan | a racial grouping referring to Caucasian, not Jewish, especially having fair hair and blue eyes |
armament | weapons, especially large guns, bombs, tanks, etc. |
purge | to remove people from an organization, often violently, because their opinions are unacceptable to the people in power |
constitution | the system of laws and basic principles that a country is governed by |
Reichstag | the national parliament of Nazi Germany |
