French and Indian War War between France and Britain over land with natural resources in North America.
Retreat To move back
Traitor Someone who goes against their own country.
Declaration of Independence A document created by Thomas Jefferson that stated the colonies were to be free of British rule.
Continental Congress the governing body by which the American colonial governments coordinated their resistance to British rule during the first two years of the American Revolution.
Second Continental Congress The Second Continental Congress was a late-18th-century meeting of delegates from the Thirteen Colonies that united in support of the American Revolutionary War.
Loyalist Someone in favor of British rule.
Patriot Someone in favor of freedom from British rule.
Boston Tea Party A protest of the Stamp Act when colonists dumped tea from a British ship into the Boston Harbor.
Stamp Act A law stating that colonists had to pay taxes on newspapers and other paper items.
Revolution A forcible overthrow of government or want of a new system.
