Argument (B.E.S.T.)
| Term | Definition |

| valid generalization | a statement that covers a broad topic and has evidence to support it |
| loaded words | Used to trigger an emotion in the reader. To have strong emotional overtones or connotations. |
| statistics | Data that corresponds to certain studies. Can provide concrete evidence to support an author's argument. |
| rhetorical questions | The writer asks a question but does not expect an answer. |
| genralization | A statement that is made to apply to a wide range of conditions. |
| nostalgia | attaching positive memories to a certain concept, product, or viewpoint |
| false assumption | a point that is supposed to be the case, but cannot be proven. |
| faulty generalization | A statement or argument that does not have sufficient evidence to support it. |
| ethical appeal | Intended to gain the audience's trust. ( show to be credible, trustworthy, intelligent, or open - minded) |
| caricature | An exaggerated, cartoonish view of a person or idea. |
