Allied Powers | The World War I alliance of Great Britain, France, Russia, and others. |
Nationalism | A feeling of pride, loyalty, and protectiveness toward one's own country. |
Militarism | A policy of making military power a primary goal nation. |
Trench Warfare | Warfare in which soldiers dug deep trenches across the battlefield. |
U-boat | A German submarine. |
Woodrow Wilson | The 28th President served during WWI, won a second term on the slogan, "He kept us out of the war." |
Communism | An economic and political system in which the government plans and controls with goal of common ownership. |
War Bonds | A low interest loan by civilians to the government to help fund the war effort. |
War Industries Board | Managed the buying and selling of war materials and set production goals. |
Convoy | A guard that accompanies and protects ships or troops. |
Reparations | Money a defeated nation pays for the destruction caused by the war. |
Fourteen Points | The document created by President Woodrow Wilson to end WWI and prevent future wars. |
Treaty of Versailles | The treaty formed following WWI to settle internal conflicts. |
League of Nations | Aan organization setup after World War I to settle internal conflicts. |
Suffrage | The right to vote in political elections. |
Capitalism | An economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. |
Nineteenth Amendment | Guaranteed the U.S. citizens the right to vote regardless of sex. |
Imperialism | The process of extended a country's power through diplomacy or military force. |
Suffragette | A woman seeking the right to vote through organized protest. |
