Imperialism is the economic & political domination of a stronger nation over a weaker nation
Countries were expanding for several reasons natural resources & high tariffs
Tariffs forced countries to look for new markets overseas
Americans concluded that the nation had to develop new overseas markets to keep its economy strong.
