what does the bible say about a nation that is sinful? it will be condemned
for a nation's people to be righteous, what must they do first? how can you do this? they must think righteously. read God's word and apply it
what type of heritage is america's culture influenced by? Judeo-Christian heritage
what is limited government? a government that exercises its powers under restrictions (usually by means of a constitution)
why did the founders not want to empower government? they feared a tyrannical government. They knew that man is inherently sinful and could exercise their will over others
what is the greatest influence on the development of english law and government? the bible
why is the judicial idea of "innocent until proven guilty" an important concept? it promoted equal justice for all by making the accuser prove someones guilt; instead of the person having to prove that they were innocent
why is "trial by jury" an important concept? no bias- it's a group that is judging instead of just one person
why is citizen participation an important part of democracy? if citizens don't participate in a democracy, then it's not a democracy
why is it important that people in a democracy are able to discuss controversial issues in a civil way? if people don't discuss controversial issues, it creates more problems. Instead of improving stuff, hostility, distrust, and rifts in society grow until the country is destroyed.
are governments put in place by God to serve God's will? why or why not? use scripture to back up your argument. yes. Romans 13:1 tells us to be subject to governing authorities. If we were not supposed to follow the government, then God would not have created it. God puts leaders in place that we must submit to
