The Start of Christianity

| exile | the act of being forced to live in another place |
| covenant | an agreement |
| salvation | the saving of the human soul from evil and happiness after death |
| apostle | a person sent out to teach others |
| monotheism | belief in only one God |
| persecute | to seek out and punish people |
| martyr | a person who willingly dies/suffers for his/her beliefs |
| Judaism | the religion of the Jewish people |
| The Ten Commandments | a set of laws given to Moses from God |
| Why did the Roman leaders see Jesus and his teachings as a threat? | Roman leaders feared people would follow Jesus and not the government laws. They feared that conflicts over Jesus would start a rebellion against Roman rule. |
