What does RAPPS stand for? The freedom of religion, assembly, petition, press & speech.
How many amendments are there? 27
What is the preamble? The intro statement for the Constitution.
What branch is Article I? Legislative Branch.
What branch is Article II? Executive Branch.
What branch is Article III? Judicial Branch.
What is an example of forming a more perfect union? Abolishing slavery.
What is an example of promoting the general welfare? The bill of rights.
What is an example of insuring domestic tranquility? The police department.
What is an example of securing the blessings of liberty? The U.S. government upholding the Constitution.
What is an example of providing for the common defense? The U.S. military.
What is an example of establishing justice? Judicial branch.
What is the amendment process? Step one: proposed with 2/3 vote in the both houses of congress. Step two: ratified by 75% or more of all the 50 states
What is article IV It identifies federalism, which means how the powers are divided between the federal state government.
What is article V It explains the process to amend the Constitution.
What are the pros of having the Articles of Confederation? They established the legislative branch and gave Congress the power to make laws, establish a military and declare a war with any other military.
What are the cons of having the Articles of Confederation? The Congress couldnt tax, a 100% vote was needed to make changes, they had no national currency, there was no courts or executive branches, and each state only had a single vote for the Congress.
Why did the Articles of Condederation fail? They made a very weak national government. They gave too much power to the states, and 13 of the states began to act like they were their own independent country.
Why was the Articles of Confederation a thing? In order to give the newly free states a government that is unified.
Who made the Articles of Confederation? The Continental Congress.
What was the purpose of the U.S. Constitution? It established the structure for the government of the United States. It also protects peoples rights, and their freedoms.
What is the role of Article III? To interpret and apply the laws of the United States.
What is the role of Article II? To enforce the U.S. laws.
What is the role of Article I? To make the U.S. laws.
What is Article III made up of? The Federal court system.
What is Article II made up of? The President, Vice President, and the Cabinet Departments.
What is Article I made up of? The Congress, which includes the House and Senate.
