| Embalming | the process of treating a body to keep it from decaying |
| Pyramid | great stone tomb built for an Egyptian pharaoh |
| Silt | a mixture of soil and rocks that is very fertile |
| Irrigation | a way of supplying dry land with water for farming |
| Scribe | a person who records business dealings and important events |
| empire | a group of many different lands under one ruler |
