What is Fascism? A political ideology; name derived from "fascio"
What is the Fascio D'Azione Rivoluzionara Mussolini's political group; favored Italy joining WW1
What is Authoritarian? Enforcing/favoring strict obedience at the cost of personal freedom
What is Authoritarianism? A political system that rejects many and multiple political parties, use of govt., police power, to preserve political status quo; reduction of civil rights and due proccess
What is ultranationalist? Type 2 nationalism (aggressive, racist, and supremacist)
What is Irredentism? The desire to unite all Italian-speaking people into 1 nation
What makes Autocracy different from Democracy? Autocracy is rule by one opposed to rule by the people
What makes Autocracy different from Oligarchy? Oligarchy is rule by few/small group opposed to rule by one
What is Centralized Autocracy? Powerful natl. govt. with weak and/or non existent local govt.
What is the arresting, exiling, and killing of political opponents called? Forcible Suppression of Opposition
When one believes in a natl. social hierarchy, what do they believe? Reflection of natural difference in talent, work ethic, and ability. They believe diff. positions have their benefits to society and reject all socialist/communist ideas (no abolitionist of social classes and no division of wealth)
What is the putting the State above oneself? Subordination of Individual Interest for Perceived Good of Nation/Race
Who did Mussolini work with? Hitler
Why was Hitler disappointed with Mussolini? He proved to be inferior; weak (fell to Hitler's rule)
