What change happened to the Great Smoky Mountains? It was turned into a National Park.
How did TVA help Tennessee? The Tennessee Valley Authority brought jobs, dams, and electricity to Tennessee.

What were the effects of the stock market crash on the United States Economy? The stock market crashed on Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929. Some people lost all their money. The people that borrowed money to buy stock had nothing to show for their debt. Panic!!
Describe life during the Great Depression. Stock market crashed, people lost their jobs, banks closed, people lived in shanty towns called Hoovervilles. Soup Kitchen. Patched clothes. People struggled to survive.
What was life like During the Roaring Twenties? Booming economy, buying on credit, ragtime/blues, people having a great time. "Let the good times roll."
Tell at least two facts about Austin Peay. Streamlined TN State Government. His focus was roads funded by gas tax. He wanted education funded by tobacco tax.
Tell at least two facts about Franklin Delano Roosevelt. New Deal, TVA, Polio, Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA).
Tell at least two facts about Herbert Hoover. President during depression. Thought the worst of the Depression was over.
Tell at least two facts about W.C. Handy. Father of the Blues, Wrote campaign song for "Boss Crump." Played on Beale Street in Memphis.
Tell at least two facts about Clarence Saunders. Opened Piggly Wiggly in Memphis. 1st self service grocery store.
Tell at least two facts about John Scopes. Football coach turned substitute science teacher. Taught evolution, was arrested, and found guilty during the Monkey Trial. Later repealed by the TN Supreme Court.
