| resolution | a firm decision to do or not to do something. |
| effigy | a roughly made model of a particular person, made in order to be damaged or destroyed as a protest or expression of anger. |
| boycott | withdraw from commercial or social relations with (a country, organization, or person) as a punishment or protest. |
| repeal | revoke or annul (a law or congressional act). |
| rebellion | an act of violent or open resistance to an established government or ruler. |
| propaganda | information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. |
| committee of correspondence | emergency provisional governments set up in the 13 American colonies in response to British policies leading up to the Revolutionary War |
| minuteman | (in the period preceding and during the American Revolution) a member of a class of American militiamen who volunteered to be ready for service at a minute's notice. |
| loyalist | a person who remains loyal to the established ruler or government, especially in the face of a revolt. |
| patriot | a person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors. |
| petition | a formal written request, typically one signed by many people, appealing to authority with respect to a particular cause. |
