Imperialism this is a policy of countries to extend their political and economical control over distant lands; Ex: through the acquisition of many island territories after the Spanish- American War, the US demonstrated this policy
Indochina this is a region and peninsula in southeast Asia, east of India, south of China, comprising of modern- day countries of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
Korea this is a place divided in half by communist control in the north and non-communist in the south; Ex: Pyongyang and Seoul.
Kush ancient African civilization similar to and located south of Ancient Egypt; also known as Nubita or "land of the boot" because of its use of archers in battle and is known for gold and iron resources.
Mali Empire West African empire-the Mandinka lasted from the 13th to 15th Centuries; founder Sundiata Keita and renowned for the wealth of rulers, especially Mansa Musa I; extended over area larger than western Europe and had numerous vassal kingdoms and provinces
Manchuria this is the Chinese region that was a military and political battleground between Japan, China, and Russia; Russia claimed it in the late-1800s, Japan later took control of it and kept it under their control until the end of the Second World War
Mesopotamia this is the name for the Ancient River Valley Civilization located between Tigris and Euphrates Rivers; meaning "the land in between two rivers"; EX: modern day sicily
Middle East modern day name given to the region east of the Mediterranean Sea, north and east of the Red Sea, and north of the Arabian Sea
Mongol Empire largest contiguous empire and the second largest empire overall in world history, after the British Empire; at its greatest extent it stretched from Moscow to the South China Sea; it emerged in 1206 under Genghis Khan, and lasted until the mid-1300s
Mughal Empire this was a Muslim Empire that ruled India from 1526 to 1858
