Declaration of Independence The Colonies formally announced their separation from the British.
3 Parts of the Declaration of Independence List of Grievances, Broke the Social Contract, Unalienable Rights
Unalienable Rights Rights that you are born with and cannot be taken away.
Grievance a complaint
Social Contract Theory the idea that the government should not abuse it's power, if they do, the people have the right to rebel and replace the government.
Battle of Saratoga The turning point of the American Revolution because the French decided to join the Continental Army and fight against the British.
Battle of Yorktown The final battle of the American Revolution. The French and Americans surrounded the British on Land and Sea and the British surrendered.
Valley Forge A place in Pennsylvania where the Continental Army camped during the winter of 1777. Soldiers died from disease and starvation, and from the cold.
Treaty of Paris 1783 this treaty officially ended the Revolution, Britain recognized the independence of the US, and all land that belonged to the British was given to the United States.
Battles of Lexington and Concord The first shots of the American Revolution. The British tried to seize weapons to stop the rebellion
