gender 1. basis of power in both patriarchies and matriarchies
plutocracy 3. a government that is made up of a small group of wealthy people who demonstrate that “money is power” by ruling over the rest of society
authority 5. what confers or legitimizes power
republic 8. a democratic form of government where citizens vote for politicians, like a president, to represent them in making the laws and decisions
patriarchy 10. a government that is dominated by men who make the laws and decisions
driect democracy 13. form of democracy in which people propose, debate, and vote for the rules and laws that guide their society
dictatorship 2. a person or group who takes control of a country through propaganda and force that is backed, generally, by the authority of the military
goverment 4. a person, people, or institution that controls and influences a larger group of people or territory by making and enforcing rules and regulations.
oligarchy 6. a government made up of a small group of people who enjoy privilege and status and rule over the rest of society
divine right 9. the idea that god rules the heavens and has chosen who should rule the earth as his representative
voting 11. the basis of any form of democracy
power 12. the ability to control or influence people, resource, and/or institutions
