How many types of Electoral Authoritarianism are there? There are two different types, which include hegemonic and competitive authoritarianism
Competitive authoritarian Regimes are civilian regimes in which formal democratic institutions exist and are widely viewed as the primary means of gaining power.
What happens to incumbents in competitive authoritarian regimes? Abuse the system which places them at a significant advantage over their opponents.
A prominent example of a competitive authoritarian regime would be? Venezuela
Hegemonic authoritarianism Have a high degree of competitiveness and repression. In this type of regime, they are not only more authoritarian but also the ruling party almost always wins.
A prominent example of a hegemonic authoritarian regime would be? Egypt
