affirmative action the encouragement of increased representation of women and minority-group members, especially in employment.
amnesty a general pardon for offenses, especially political offenses, against a government, often granted before any trial or conviction.
anarchy a state of society without government or law.
aparthied (in the Republic of South Africa) a rigid former policy of segregating and economically and politically oppressing the nonwhite population.
asylum a refuge granted an alien by a sovereign state on its own territory./a temporary refuge granted political offenders, especially in a foreign embassy.
bipartisan representing, characterized by, or including members from two parties or factions
boycott to combine in abstaining from, or preventing dealings with, as a means of intimidation or coercion
