Manifestations of HIV Penumocystis pneumonia (PCP) - most common, life threatening, opportunistic disease TB/Cytomegalorius (CMV) GI problems: - Esophageal candidiasis - chronic diarhhea - wasting syndrome - 10% loss in body weight accompanied by 30 days of fever/diarhhe
Manifestations continued Kaposi sarcoma (ks) - cancer that develops from the cells that the line the lymph or blood vessels B-cells lymphomas - abnormal b cells HIV encephalopathy - result of damage to the brain by long standing HIV infection Depression
Man. contin. Immune reconsitution inflammatory syndrome (IRIS) - a state of hyperinflammatory response that usually occurs in the first 6 months of treatment of HIV/AIDS
