| Convention | A large meeting or conference, especially of members of a political party or a particular profession. |
| Compromise | An agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions. |
| Electoral College | (in the US) a body of people representing the states of the US, who formally cast votes for the election of the president and vice president. |
| Federalist | A person who advocates or supports a system of government in which several states unite under a central authority. |
| Anti-Federalist | A person who opposed the adoption of the U.S. Constitution. |
