Social Studies Vocab

TermDefinition
Paleontology the branch of science concerned with fossil animals and plants.
Fossils the remains or impression of a prehistoric organism preserved in petrified form or as a mold or cast in rock.
Era a long and distinct period of history with a particular feature or characteristic.
Archaeology the study of human history and prehistory through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other physical remains.
Artifacts an object made by a human being, typically an item of cultural or historical interest.
Species species, in biology, classification comprising related organisms that share common characteristics and are capable of interbreeding.
Anthropology the study of human societies and cultures and their development.
history Is the study of people and events of the past.
prehistory It is the time before we developed writing.
circa Means about or around
