| Athens | Greek city state known for education and philosophy |
| Sparta | Greek city-state known for having a strong army |
| Limited Government | a form of government with roles and powers given, and limited by law, usually in a written constitution; only the powers that the people give it. |
| Unlimited Government | their leader(s) have total power to rule the nation-state as they choose with no accountability to the people |
| Direct Democracy | Citizens making laws and decisions in person, without going through representatives and legislators. |
| Oligarchy | Rule by a small group who tell the people what to do. |
| Philosophy | the love of wisdom; Based on reason and evidence |
| Alexander the Great | King of Macedonia who conquered a vast empire in Europe, Asia, and Africa |
