Boycott the refusal to buy goods from a particular country or company.
Samuel Adams He helped start the "Sons of Liberty" organization in Massachusetts.
Boston Tea Party A group of men that were dressed as Mohawk Indians threw 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor on December 16, 1773.
Tea Act A law that allowed the East India Tea Co. to sell their product directly to shopkeepers and create a monopoly
Coercive Acts Harsh laws passed by Parliament designed to punish the people of Massachusetts
John Adams Gained fame as the lawyer that defended the British soldiers in the Boston Massacre
Patrick Henry Helped to persuade the House of Burgesses in Virginia to act against the "Stamp Act"
Concord, Massachusetts the site of the first colonial victory in the early days of the American Revolution.
Stamp Act This law placed a ta on all printed materials in the colonies.
Boston Massacre Event that occurred March 5th 1770 and resulted in 5 colonists getting killed
Minutemen Civilian soldiers that boasted that they could be ready to fight at a moments notice.
Writs of Assistance Legal documents that allowed customs officials to inspect for smuggled goods
Proclamation of 1763 A law that set the Appalachian Mountains as the temporary western boundary for the colonies
Continental Congress A political body made of 55 delegates from the colonies (except Georgia) that challenged British rule.
Effigy A rag figure to represent an individual.
