| Writ of assistance | A writ of assistance is a written order issued by a court instructing a law enforcement official, such as a sheriff or a tax collector, to perform a certain task. |
| Resolution | a firm decision to do or not to do something. |
| Effigy | a sculpture or model of a person. |
| Boycott | withdraw from commercial or social relations with (a country, organization, or person) as a punishment or protest. |
| Repeal | revoke or annul (a law or congressional act). |
| Rebellion | an act of violent or open resistance to an established government or ruler. |
| Propaganda | information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. |
| Committee of correspondence | longstanding institutions that became a key communications system during the early years of the American Revolution |
| Minuteman | (in the period preceding and during the American Revolution) a member of a class of American militiamen who volunteered to be ready for service at a minute's notice. |
| Loyalist | a person who remains loyal to the established ruler or government, especially in the face of a revolt |
| Patriot | a person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors. |
| Petition | a formal written request, typically one signed by many people, appealing to authority with respect to a particular cause. |
| Preamble | the introductory part of a statute or deed, stating its purpose, aims, and justification. |
