Afghanistan This landlocked country is located between Iran and Pakistan and was ruled for more than 2 decades by the Taliban.
Brazil This country, the largest in South America, is a federative republic and is the only American Country to use portuguese as it's official language.
China This modern-day Asian country was the site of the first ancient civilizations. Historical record goes back to the 15 century BCE with Shang Dynasty who developed some form of written communication; Ex: Modern Capital is Beijing.
Egypt This modern day country was one of the most advanced civilizations; human habitation around the nile valley began at least 10,000 BC; Ex: this country's ancient past was divided into the old, middle, and new kingdoms and depended on the Nile to survive.
Ghana West African country known for the "Gold Coast" prior to receiving the independence from the British empire.
India This Asian country was once ruled by both the Mughal and British empires, but won its independence in 1947 thanks mainly to widespread nonviolent resistance.
Iran this middle eastern country was once the center of the Persian empires, and was the site of an Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Iraq This country was the site of war with its neighbor in the 1980s and wars with the US in the early 1990s and 2000s; Ex: Baghdad is the capital.
Israel this country was formed in 1948 from the land once known as Palestine and has served a homeland for the Jewish people.
Japan this country was the last of the Axis powers to surrender in 1945, but today is one of the most powerful economies in Asia and around the world.
