Describe Athens democracy It was about giving power to the people there was the strategoi (10 chief general) the Boule (council of 500 chosen randomly) and the ecclesia (assembly of all citizens)
Describe Spartas oligarchy it was about equity for all citizens oligarchy is a small group of elites there was the ephors (5) the council (2 kings and 28 elders) and the citizen assembly (men age 30+)
Explain the Trojan War According to the Illiad, it was sparked by the prince of Troy who kidnapped Spartan kings wife. This caused outrage within the greeks. The spartans kings brother led the greeks to attack Troy. 10 years of war, the greeks won and ruined the city of Troy
Who were the helots? The spartan slaves, labourers. They were conquered people of Sparta
What was the agora? An open space that served as a market and a place where citizens could gather and all main activities were held.
What is a polis? Greek community of citizens in which all political, economic, social, cultural, religious activities took place.
What is philosophy? It is the love of wisdom meant to understand and improve ones self. It was viewed as harmful to society. Socrates, Plato and Aristotle were philosophers.
Describe Athens Drama It was plays (tragic or comedic) meant to educate citizens. Oedipus was the most famous one.
