Balfour Declaration British promise of support for the establishment of Jewish settlement in Palestine.
Sykes Picot Agreement The 1916 secret agreement between Britain and France that divided up the Arab lands of Lebanon, Syria, southern Turkey, Palestine, Jordan, and Iraq.
Zionism A policy for establishing and developing a national homeland for Jews in Palestine.
antisemitism hostility to or prejudice against Jews.
Religious Group share same religious beliefs, traditions, and celebrations
Sadam Hussein This former leader of Iraq that invaded Kuwait in 1990 to gain popularity among Iraqi citizens. He was ousted by the United States and executed after being put on trial for genocide and other crimes.
Persian Gulf War The United States and its allies defeated Iraq in a ground war that lasted 100 hours , The code name for the liberation of Kuwait during the Perisan Gulf War of 1991
Operation Iraqi Freedom Operation where U.S. troops invaded Iraq and Saddam's forces collapsed almost immediately. Baghdad fell, and Saddam and other Iraqi leaders went into hiding. In the months that followed Saddam and many of his supporters were captured

Coalition a group of individuals or countries with a common interest
Osama bin Laden Founder of al Qaeda, the terrorist network responsible for the attacks of September 11, 2001, and other attacks.
United Nations An international organization formed after WWII to promote international peace, security, and cooperation.
Sunni Muslims An international organization formed after WWII to promote international peace, security, and cooperation.
Shia Muslims Believe that the leader of the Islamic faith should be a direct descendant of the prophet Muhammad.
Palestinians A displaced group of Arabs who lived or still live in the area formerly called Palestine and now called Israel
Gaza Strip A territory along the Mediterranean Sea just northeast of the Sinai Peninsula; part of the land set aside for Palestinians under British and International mandates. An area of extreme poverty and conflict.
